Out in the Wild

Last night was a rough one at Inner8.com – nothing like having the site go down on its first day out in the wild.  Luckily, our Bat Phone was recently installed and we were able to jump start the system without too much trouble. While issues like this are expected in a beta, we’re never comfortable providing anything less than perfection to our users. All in all, the launch went smoothly as we welcomed many new users to the site.

Over the coming weeks, you, our charter members, will have front row seats to a number of new features as well as some pretty cool v1.1’s. Sneak peak: how about having some direct control over the Get Ideas feature? – you’ll get it; advanced Match Me – sure, on its way;  I honestly can’t go on without having you sign an NDA… but needless to say, the features you’ve seen are just the tip of the iceberg. We have some serious technology powering this ship.

As you know, we are currently in a private beta and have hand selected our user base because we deeply believe it’s all about who you know and what they know.  We feel that you, our charter members, have the passion, insight, and knowledge that will help us rise above the field. It’s all about open innovation, while not necessarily sending out an open invitation. Please be our partners in this endeavor and let us know what you need, what you see, and how we can provide you the best investment tool know to humans.

Welcome to Inner8.com!

Busy day here inside Inner8. Today we signed off on the launch of our beta.  Analytics—check. Community tools--check.  Links all working—check. Spellcheck-check.  Some of the bloggers to whom we will offer reader access codes are already asking for them, so we’ll have to scan the office for bugs.

Building tools is way different than creating content--kind of like having kids.  You “make” them, then you get back unexpected results.  This is happening in a surprising way in my testing our Stock Explorer  (the Stock Explorer reveals hidden correlations between stocks, it uses a LOT of data to do this, including the users profile data and the sentiment of the community).  I tell our Stock Finder I am bullish on technology and energy, and in return I got what seemed like a strange result: Garmin (GRMN) was the #1 stock choice that came up. Not intuitive, but obvious once I thought for a moment about the underling dynamics at play: when fuel prices go up, it makes sense that people will invest more in saving unnecessary miles. No more making money--time to prepare for Finovate…
